Shot Description

Goal.com UK are looking for enthusiastic and passionate football writers of varying levels of experience and offer internship opportunities that aim to enhance skills, build up contacts and immerse the individual into the day-to-day running of the UK section of one of the world's largest and most successful football websites. While the internships are unpaid, they are not a long-term, binding agreement and the intern is free to opt out of the commitment with Goal.com UK at any time.

An internship with Goal.com UK would involve the following...

News writing - A six-hour shift, typically carried out once a week, contributing stories for the website. This provides experience of dealing with breaking news, writing coherent, industry-standard news articles and also learning the importance of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) in new media.

Match coverage - Interns are invited to get involved with writing match reports on Premier League, Champions League, Europa League and international matches for the site, as well as LIVE! play-by-play commentaries and preview articles where they are free to get involved with as much or as little match coverage as desired.

Attending matches - The chance to attend games will be available to interns who have impressed and adopted an enthusiastic approach to match coverage, which not only provides experience of reporting on location, but also offers the opportunity to build contacts within the media industry beyond just Goal.com.

LIVE! channel - Working on Goal.com UK's LIVE! text feed to provide engaging and topical conversational copy as well as sufficiently handling Goal.com UK's Facebook and Twitter pages.

Work experience placements - There is potentially the opportunity to undertake a work experience placement at Goal.com's main office in London.
